TRAFFIC DATA MANAGEMENT AND SIMULATION SYSTEM

A geographic information system (GIS) comprises a geographic database comprising geographically accurate lane-level representations of at least one of road segments and connections, lanes, lane widths, lane configurations and connections, traffic controls and elevations. A visualization system which visualizes traffic conditions at geographically accurate lane-level detail, includes an animator process for processing the representations to generate a visual animation of traffic flow across the transportation environment. The lane-level network and individual vehicle objects may be thematically represented with respect to values of traffic data attributes.
