The method involves injecting a developer e.g. toner through a developer supply port (5f) and driving a feeding unit (5a) in a direction (A-E) for feeding a developer from the developer supply port to the developer accommodating portion (5j).The developer is fed from the developer supply port (5f) to fill the developer accommodating portion with the developer. The developer unit is detachably mounted to a main assembly.
