PURPOSE: A pharmaceutical composition for preventing skin aging is provided which contains retinoic acid compounds as an active ingredient. The retinoic compounds extends the self life of human epidermal keratonocytes, and inhibits replicative senescence to prevent skin aging. CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition for prevention skin aging contains retinoic compounds, which maintain telomerase activity, and reduces p16¬INK4A level, as an active ingredient. The retinoic compound is selected from trans retinoic acid and 9-cis retinoic acid.
