PURPOSE: An automatic audio setting method in a home theater system is provided to automatically set an optimum audio output suitable for characteristic of a space where the home theater system is installed. CONSTITUTION: Structural, spatial and physical characteristic information of a space where a home theater system installed is input(301). An audio output suitable for the spacer is set using the input characteristic information(306). The characteristic information of the space includes the area, material and shape of the spacer, a distance between speakers, and a distance between the speakers and a user. Before or after the characteristic information of the spacer is inputted, models of the space are presented to the user to allow the user to select one of the models.
