NEW MODE LCD HAVING AN A-PLATE OR O-PLATE RETARDATION FILM

摘要

PURPOSE: A new mode LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) having an A-plate or O-plate retardation film is provided to improve gray level stability at a wide viewing angle. CONSTITUTION: A compensator has one or more retardation films(A-plate) having an optical axis actually horizontal to a film plane and one or more retardation films(O-plate) which is slanted at an angle of 0 degree to 90 degrees with respect to the film plane. The slanted angle is changed in a direction vertical to the film plane in two or more O-plates.
