PURPOSE: A method and a system for improving beacon acquisition performance by a time slot and antenna sector reuse are provided to improve the beacon-acquisition performance by using time-staggered beacon time slots. CONSTITUTION: A plurality of beacon signals are generated. Each of a plurality of the beacon signals are assigned to each of a plurality of time slots. Each beacon signal and each time slot are allocated to each of a plurality of cells(20-26). A different beacon signal is assigned in adjacent cells. The cells(20-26) are divided into a plurality of sectors. A different beacon signal is assigned in each adjoining sector.
