Verfahren zur Herstellung von Dihydrocitral

The preparation of dihydrocitral (I) by rearrangement of dihydrodehydrolinalool (II) is catalyzed by a combination of a molybdenum compound (III) and a sulfoxide (IV), in presence of an organic acid. The preparation of dihydrocitral of formula (I) by rearrangement of dihydrodehydrolinalool of formula (II) is effected in aprotic organic solvent, in presence of an organic acid of pK 4.0-6.5, using a catalyst system consisting of a molybdenum compound of formula MoO2X2 (III) (X = acetylacetone or halide ion) and a dialkyl or diaryl sulfoxide (IV).
