PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the lateral movent of a movable platen, which occurs when three sides of a machine stand are opened, by supporting the movable platen on a machine stand so as to directly clamp the platen by a ball screw shaft. SOLUTION: In a vertical molding machine, the support member 1 is installed on one side on the machine stand 2, an injection apparatus 5 is installed in the upper part of the front facing to the machine stand of the support member 1, and an electromotive direct pressure type mold clamping device 3 is installed along with the movable platen at the lower part. The mold clamping device 3 is composed of a pair of housings 31 installed on both sides of the lower part of the front of the support member, mold clamping ball nut members 33 with pulleys 32 installed vertically and rotatably in the housings, a pair of right and left mold clamping ball screw shafts 34 engaged with the ball nut members 33 and inserted vertically into the housings, a mold clamping electromotor 35 upwardly attached to the back of the support member 2, a mold clamping driving belt 36 trained over the motor 35 and both pulleys 34, and a guide rail 7 installed vertically on the front of the support member on the lower side of the housings. The movable platen 4 is supported horizontally on the front of the support member by the guide rail 7. The movable platen 4 and the ball screw shafts 34 are connected. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
