Method for displaying the data of a machine control system (1) has the following steps: receipt of condition data for at least one system element, the data representing at least one physical value for the element; presentation of the data; and presentation of a switching diagram which shows the electrical connections of the at least one element within the system, so that the condition data display is integrated in the switching diagram, which can for example be an E-CAD diagram. The invention also relates to a corresponding device, which has a fixed or mobile terminal that can be used for commissioning, maintenance and fault diagnosis of a machine control system.
