PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely calculate the primary pulley torque capacity used for the reverse rotation control of a pulley even in the failure of a primary pressure hydraulic sensor. SOLUTION: When the reverse rotation of the pulley is detected in step 100, the PLpri torque capacity is calculated in step 102 from the primary pressure detected by the primary pressure hydraulic sensor when the sensor is normal in step 101. When the sensor is broken, a secondary pressure hydraulic sensor is checked in step 103, and when the secondary pressure hydraulic sensor is normal, the PLpri torque capacity is determined by use of a map in step 104 from the detected secondary pressure. When the secondary pressure hydraulic sensor is also broken, the PLpri torque capacity is read from the map with a secondary pressure target value as the secondary pressure in step 105.
