A test signal in which the hue and the color saturation are altered periodically, is generated such that the color saturation is altered more slowly than hue. The test signal is generated by forming color value signals (R,G,B) with sinusoidal oscillations which are phase-shifted by 120 degrees mutually and linearly rising amplitude and superimposing DC component on the color value signals. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) video-technologically devices testing arrangement; and (2) test signal generator.
