PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for assembling a gear device in which a process and assembly of a case of the gear device having an oil reservoir are simplified and the number of components put in the case is reduced. SOLUTION: In the method for assembling the gear device 2, engaged gears 3, 4 are assembled in an oil chamber 5a formed in the case 5. The gears 2, 3 are rotatably and pivotally supported by a gear support body 8a. The case 5 is assembled in such a way that keeping an opening 5c of the oil chamber 5a facing toward a top side, oil 6 is poured in the opening 5c, the gears 3, 4 are inserted in the oil chamber 5a through the opening 5c, and the opening 5c of the oil chamber 5a is closed by the gear support body 8a.
