PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ram vibration suppressing method in a hydraulic press for performing smooth operation by suppressing any vibration generated during the approaching operation and the retracting operation of upper and lower dies during the pressing operation by a press, and an apparatus thereof. SOLUTION: When advancing and retracting an upper die P and a lower die D by controlling the number of rotation of a hydraulic pump 3 to adjust the discharge of working fluid into a hydraulic cylinder 17 for moving a ram, and to vertically move the ram 9, the pressure in the hydraulic cylinder 17 is abruptly changed and the ram 9 is vibrated if the ram 9 is rapidly approached or retracted. In such a case, a vibration suppression apparatus 1 disposed between a lower cylinder chamber 33 of the hydraulic cylinder 17 and the hydraulic pump 3 prevents vibration of the ram 9 by absorbing abrupt change of the pressure in the hydraulic cylinder 17.
