PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly reliable driving belt and a printer using the driving belt in which an engagement part is hard to be transformed or destroyed. SOLUTION: The flexible driving belt 1 having the engagement part 3 engaging with a carriage drive pin 6 is provided with a toothed part 2 composed of a plurality of concavities and convexities on the face at the opposite side of a projecting direction of the engagement part, and a spring member 9 as a reinforcing member passed through and embedded from a tooth top 2 of the toothed part 2 to a front edge 3a of the engagement part. The spring member 9 is embedded between two arms formed in the shape of U so as to interpose a core wire 5 for reinforcement embedded over the whole circumference of the driving belt 1 in the longitudinal direction. The driving belt is used for the printer whose print head reciprocates for printing. Transformation and destruction of the engagement part are prevented, and the driving belt and the printer using the driving belt excellent in reliability can be provided. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
