The circuit board has a multi-layer structure with an electro-optical or opto-electrical component (6) coupled to printed electrical paths (5) in an electrical plane and optical conductor paths (3) in an optical plane. The component can be coupled to the optical conductor paths via an optical coupling element (8), e.g. a mirror or microelectrical-mechanical-system, integrated in the circuit board.
