<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transflective liquid crystal display element in which a bright black and white image is displayed at a reflective display and a color image with sufficient color reproducibility and brightness is displayed at a transmissive display. <P>SOLUTION: Each of a plurality of pixel parts A is divided into a reflective display region A1 in which display is performed by making light incident from the observation surface side of the display and passed through a liquid crystal layer 4 be reflected and making the reflected light be emitted to the observation surface side, and a transmissive display region A2 in which display is performed by making light incident from the side opposite to the observation surface and passed through the liquid crystal layer 4 be emitted to the observation surface side.
