<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture an optical fiber in which the eccentricity of a core is suppressed by preventing the eccentricity of a core section in the optical fiber preform 7 when the optical fiber preform 7 is manufactured by drawing into a predetermined outer diameter while sequentially unifying a glass pipe 2 and a glass rod 3 by sequentially heating the glass pipe 2 and the glass rod 3 from their one ends toward another ends while reducing the pressure in the glass pipe 2 in which the glass rod is inserted. <P>SOLUTION: The glass pipe 2 and the glass rod 3 are unified while setting the pressure P[kPa] to the atmosphere in the glass pipe 2 so that the pressure P satisfies following relation: -10kPa≤P<0kPa. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
