The hot channel assembly for an injection molding machine, to take the flow of hot molten polymer to the injector, has a distributor to direct the polymer flows to one or more injectors. On a change of color or polymer, the hot channel assembly is replaced by an exchange unit. The exchange unit has a frame structure and a swing mechanism with a flange connection to a manipulator, and a holder. The hot channel assembly for an injection molding machine, to take the flow of hot molten polymer to the injector, has a distributor (16) to direct the polymer flows to one or more injectors. On a change of color or polymer, the hot channel assembly is replaced by an exchange unit (30), which is a stand-alone system independent of the injection mold. The exchange unit has a frame structure (31) and a swing mechanism (32) with a flange connection (41) to a manipulator, and a holder. The frame has positioners (35) at one arm, to engage position drillings at the mold.
