<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an erbium-doped optical fiber which is excellent in gain flatness, can be used in a wide band range and exhibits high energy conversion efficiency. <P>SOLUTION: This erbium-doped optical fiber consists of a core containing erbium, and the core contains germanium in an amount of <1.5wt.%. It is preferable that the core contains aluminum in an amount of≥4 and <10wt.%, and the gain flatness is≤11%, preferably,≤10%, and the energy conversion efficiency is≥90%. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
