<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a carbonaceous fiber woven fabric which has properties such as gas permeability, electric conductivity, water retainability, drainabiliy, and regular thickness in a good balance and is used as a material for solid polymer type fuel battery gas diffusion layers. <P>SOLUTION: This method for producing the carbonaceous fiber woven fabric is characterized by press-treating a woven fabric comprising carbonaceous precursor fibers or carbonaceous fibers subjected to a carbonization treatment at a temperature not exceeding 1,400°C, and then thermally treating the woven fabric at a temperature which is higher than heat history temperatures before the press treatment of the fibers comprising the woven fabric and is further higher than a temperature needed to the carbonization treatment of the fibers. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
