PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prolong a life in a light emitting element having organic compounds. SOLUTION: This element is made to have a structure to repeatedly laminate an inorganic insulating film 312a, a stress relaxation layer 312b having transparency and hygroscopicity, and an inorganic insulating film 312c on a negative electrode to protect a light emitting element from moisture. As the stress relaxation layer 312b having transparency and hygroscopicity, a film composed of the same material as a layer 310 containing an organic compound pinched between the negative electrode and a positive electrode, a film capable of being formed by a vapor-deposition method, or a film capable of being formed by a coating method is used.
