PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a treatment method for reducing the generation amount of sludge and easy in removing condition from a conventional treatment method using slaked lime and an inorganic flocculant, in a removal method for a phosphorus component accumulated in a biological treatment apparatus for reducing the volume of sludge. SOLUTION: A cationic and/or an amphoteric organic polymeric crosslinked gel is added to biologically treated sludge, especially sludge, which is generated in the biological treatment apparatus for reducing the volume of sludge, containing a phosphate ion component to adsorb the phosphorus component. Thereafter, the cationic and/or amphoteric polymeric flocculant is added to the sludge to apply flocculation and dehydration treatment to the sludge. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
