PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wooden building skeleton which is constructed by connecting wooden columns and wooden beams in a manner transferring bending moment, minimizes or eliminates braces from a rigid-frame structure, and avoids the formation of columns having an excessive cross-sectional dimension, to thereby effectively use indoor spaces of a building. SOLUTION: The rigid-frame structure is formed by connecting the wooden beams 21, 22, etc. and a plurality of wooden columns 11, 12, 13 and 14, etc. to each other such that the bending moment can be transferred in a vertical elevated plane in a single direction. Then a plurality of rigid-frame structures thus formed are connected to each other such that the elevated planes are differently directed, to thereby construct the wooden building skeleton. Each rigid-frame structure is formed by mounting the beam on the column, and then the beams of the respective rigid frame structures are connected to each other. The beam and the column have flat sectional shapes, and a surface in parallel with the elevated plane has a larger sectional dimension, to thereby resist the large bending moment in the elevated plane. Further the beam and the column may have their side surfaces exposed to the interior of a habitable room as part of a wall body of the building. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
