[Also in Divisions A2 and C5] A microbiological process for the preparation of isorenieratene, 3-oxy-isorenieratene and 3,3<SP>1</SP>- dioxy isorenieratene comprises growing a carotenoid-producing strain of the microorganism Streptomyces mediolani under aerobic conditions and in submerged culture, in a liquid cultural medium containing an assimilable source of carbon, an assimilable source of nitrogen and mineral salts. The products may be separated from the mycelium of the microorganism by extraction with an organic solvent and then isolated and purified by chromatography. |
