PURPOSE: An ignition device for an internal combustion engine is provided to restrict generation of crack causing leakage of a high voltage. CONSTITUTION: An ignition coil(1) generates a high voltage. An external case(2) has a space for installing the ignition coil. A diode(3) prevents an inverse voltage not to spark an ignition plug. A diode pin(4) sends the high voltage generated from the ignition coil to the ignition plug. A high voltage terminal(5) has a hollow inside so that the diode pin passes through the hollow inside. A cylindrical high voltage terminal combining part(52) is placed on the diode pin, and of which an upper end is protruded to be fixed at an external case combining part(22). A groove(53) is formed on a central outer peripheral surface of the high voltage terminal combining part to insert an O-shaped rubber ring(51) into the groove.
