A compound represented by the formula (I) ~wherein R represents an optionall y substituted hydrocarbon group or optionally substituted heterocyclic group; p is 0, 1, or 2, provided that when p is 2, then the R's may be the same or different; R1 represents hydrogen or an optionally substituted hydrocarbon group; R2 represents an optionally substituted aromatic group; ring A represents an optionally substituted monocyclic aromatic ring or optionally substituted bicyclic aromatic fused ring; X1 represents oxygen or sulfur; X2 represents a bond, oxygen, or -S(O)n- (n is 0, 1, or 2); Y represents a bond , oxygen, -S(O)m-, -C(=O)-N(R3)-, or -N(R3)-C(=O)- (R3 represents hydrogen, an optionally substituted hydrocarbon group, or an optionally substituted heterocyclic group and m is 0, 1, or 2); M1, M2, and M3 may be the same or different and each independently represents a bond or an optionally substituted divalent aliphatic hydrocarbon group; and M4 represents an optionally substituted divalent aliphatic hydrocarbon group~ or a salt of th e compound. They are useful as a preventive/therapeutic agent for abnormal lip id metabolism, arteriosclerotic diseases, secondary diseases thereof, diabetes, etc.
