<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ceramic porous membrane having a high surface-area and to provide its producing method. <P>SOLUTION: In the producing method, a ceramic porous membrane, which has a number of pores inside and which has a membrane thickness of 0.23-0.74 μm and a high surface area of 38-56% porosity by one operation of coating, is manufactured. The manufacturing method comprises the following processes: a process wherein metal alkoxide is dropped into water containing oligosaccharide or oligosaccharide is added to water after precipitation occurs following the dropping of metal alkoxide into water, and wherein, after an acid or alkali is added to the precipitate obtained by hydrolyzation, the precipitate is heated to become a uniform sol solution; and a process wherein the uniform sol solution is coated on a base plate, is dried, and is subjected to heat treatment to produce a membrane.
