PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the various faults accompanying the heating of hysteresis material by enabling the hysteresis material of a hysteresis brake to be cooled surely and efficiently. SOLUTION: An inner gap 42 between a hysteresis ring 26 and inner pole tooth 23 and an outer gap 44 between the ring 26 and outer pole tooth 24 are made passages for lubricant. The lubricant is supplied from the inner gap 42, is let flow to the outer gap 44 via a connection path 45 facing an electromagnetic coil 25, and is discharged to outside from the outer gap 44. The inside and outside surfaces of the hysteresis ring 26 are cooled all over, and besides the electromagnetic coil 25 is cooled, too, by the lubricant flowing through the connection path 45 and the outer gap 44 in order from the inner gap 42.
