The vacuum cleaner motor (124) drives a fan (127) to create a low pressure in a space (11) into which the suction hose (2) connects before a filter (122) behind which the fan exhausts the filtered air over the motor and through a grille (15). The hand grip (3) has a hinge pin (32) by which it may be clipped into a hole (19) or released and hung on the outer edge of a partly open door window by a hook (35). A screw cap (14) allows replacement or cleaning of the filter.
