PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily write or update a control program of a digital broadcasting receiver in a mass production process of a plant, in a service center, or the like. SOLUTION: An external storage device 22 with a control program stored therein can be connected to an IDE connector 20A of a connection part 20 through an IDE cable 23. Just after the power is supplied, a control part 16 determines whether the external storage device 22 is connected to the connection part 20 by using a free terminal among terminals included the IDE connector 20A, and when the external storage device 22 is connected, the control part 16 reads a control program from the external storage device 22 and writes the control program in a control program storage part 18 or updates the existing control program. Unless the external storage device 22 is connected, the control part 16 reads the existing control program stored in the control program storage part 18 and controls the entire device according to the read control program.
