PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a near-infrared absorption glass which retains a good color-sensitivity correction characteristic without containing harmful arsenic, has a low thickness and shows an excellent weather resistance and moldability, a near-infrared absorption element made of the glass, and a near-infrared absorption filter using the glass. SOLUTION: The glass contains a specific composition of cation components and F<SP>-</SP>and O<SP>2-</SP>as anion components. The glass shows a spectral transmittance within a wavelength range of 400-700 nm, calculated employing a glass thickness of 0.5 mm, wherein the transmittance is 50% at a wavelength of <630 nm, <50% at wavelengths longer than this and >50% at wavelengths shorter than this, and a viscosity of≥0.5 Pas at liquid-phase temperature.
