<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a light emitting diode which has an improved output efficiency of the light converted in wavelength and is improved in brightness. <P>SOLUTION: The light emitting diode is manufactured through a method wherein a nearly funnel-shaped recess, which increases gradually in hole diameter from its bottom to top, is provided to a first lead frame 12 where a light emitting diode LED chip is mounted, a reflector 14 which makes the internal surface of the recess serve as its reflecting surface is provided, and an LED chip 16 is connected and fixed on the bottom of the reflector 14 by die bonding. The surface of the LED chip 16 is coated/sealed up with a transparent coating material 22, fluorescent particles 26 coated with fluorescent glass 24 are mixed into the coating material 22, and furthermore the LED 16 coated with the coating material, the tip 12a and the upper end of the terminal 12b of the first lead frame 12, and the tip 18a and the upper end of the terminal 18b of a second lead frame 18 are coated/sealed with a transparent resin material 30 equipped with a convex lens 28 on its tip. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
