The invention relates to the use of glutamine or a glutamine equivalent for the treatment of diseased states where there are low arginine plasma levels. Such diseased states comprise endotoxaemia, systemic inflammation, high plasma arginase level, bacteraemia, jaundice, liver transplantation, liver resection, inflammatory bowel disease, transplantation in general, increased cytokine production or liver steatosis. |
