PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position detection device capable of detecting a parking area in which a driver desires to park actually in any circumstances. SOLUTION: A CPU 11a superimposes a parking area image expressing the parking area in which the vehicle of the driver can park on the image around the vehicle, imaged by the camera 10 carried on the vehicle, and the parking area image is moved on the image-pickup image according to the operation to move the vehicle. The CPU 11a also detects the relative position of the parking area expressed by the parking area image for the vehicle based on the position of the parking area image on the image taken by the camera when setting operation is made.
