PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sustain the performance of a nozzle in an inkjet recorder in good state by preventing ink from drying up. SOLUTION: The inkjet recorder comprises a nozzle protector 30 having a cap 31 covering the nozzle, and an ink tube 33 for discharging ink, bubbles, and the like, in the cap to the outside wherein a check valve 32 is provided between the cap 31 and the ink tube 33. When printing is not performed and the nozzle is left as it is for a long time, the cap 31 covers the nozzle of a recording head 28 and the tube pump 34 is released. Since an atmospheric pressure substantially prevails in the space defined by the cap 31 and the recording head 28 and in the ink tube 33, no pressure difference appears between the inside and outside of the check valve 32. Consequently, the slit 43 of the check valve 32 is closed to prevent moisture contained in the ink from evaporating from a space S to the outside thus preventing ink in the nozzle from drying up.
