<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance frequency of automatic stopping by appropriately determining propriety of the automatic stopping of an engine in a hybrid vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: The driving device 1 of the vehicle is provided with ECU 2. In the ECU 2, an automatic stopping restarting control means 21 for automatically stopping or automatically restarting the engine 3 and an air conditioning control means 22 for controlling compressors 7, 8 driven by the engine 3 and a motor/generator 4 are provided. The automatic stopping restarting control means 21 estimates a discharge power of a high pressure battery 11 at the time of automatic stopping of the engine 3 from a consumption power of an auxiliary machinery 9 and a consumption power of the electric compressor 8 and presumes a carrying out possible time of the automatic stopping of the engine 3 from this discharge power and remained capacity of the high pressure battery 11.
