PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of a conventional class D amplifier that distortion of a sound output caused by a dead time cannot be avoided when driving of a switch element is provided with the dead time. SOLUTION: In this class D amplifier, a digital sound signal is inputted to a delta-sigma modulating means 1, a PWM converting means 2 converts an output of the modulating means 1 into a PWM signal, and a power switching means 3 and a lowpass filter 4 reproduce the sound signal. A compensation means 6 is arranged in the pre-stage of the delta-sigma modulating means 1 and processing is applied to preliminarily eliminate distortion caused by the dead time of the power switching means 3 with respect to the digital sound signal.
