<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that an increase in the resolution of a PWM duty of a drive pulse signal applied to a vibration type motor causes an increse in the scale and cost of a drive circuit of the vibration type actuator. <P>SOLUTION: A controller of the vibration type actuator applies the drive pulse signal to an electromechanical energy transducer to excite a vibration at a vibrator and relatively drives the vibrator and a contactor brought into contact with the vibrator. The controller includes signal generating means 2, 7 each for generating the drive pulse signal and changing a duty ratio of the drive pulse signal together with the set time, and a voltage detecting means 31 for detecting the voltage of a power source.
