PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a luster coating forming method for forming a coating exhibiting a glitter feeling high in design property like a star twinkling in the dark sky with a glittering material in a clear coating containing it which glitters without being just merged in a base coating when seen in a glittering clear coating from the outside thereof. SOLUTION: The method of forming the coating comprises the steps of forming a color base coating layer with an L value of 1-40 on a base material to be coated, and forming on the color base coating the glittering clear coating layer containing 0.001-5 mass % metal covered glass flake pigment in a dry coating, and then forming a top clear coating layer on the glittering clear coating layer.
