PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image synthesizing optical device capable of preventing a situation that an image by specified color light is not formed because of a temperature change. SOLUTION: The image synthesizing optical device is provided with a supporting body 34 for supporting a 1st display element 28a for modulating and outputting the 1st color light in accordance with an image signal, a 2nd display element 28b for modulating and outputting the 2nd color light in accordance with the image signal and arranged so that the optical axis of the 2nd color light may be aligned with the optical axis of the 1st color light from the 1st display element, a 3rd display element 28c for modulating and outputting the 3rd color light in accordance with the image signal and arranged so that the optical axis of the 3rd color light may pass a middle point O between the 1st and the 2nd display elements on the optical axis of the color light from the 2nd display element, and a color light synthesizing unit 32 arranged at the middle point and synthesizing the color light from the respective display elements. Then, the supporting body is constituted so that optical path lengths of the color light from the respective display elements to the color light synthesizing unit may be equal even when the temperature change occurs.
