PURPOSE: A shock absorber for a vehicle is provided to use permanently without lowering performance by absorbing vertical vibration with regulating flow of magnetic fluid instead of oil according to intensity of a magnetic field. CONSTITUTION: A shock absorber for a vehicle comprises inner and outer cylinders(110,120); an acceleration detecting unit(160); magnetic fluid(100) charged in the inner and outer cylinders; a control unit(170) outputting a control signal for absorbing vertical vibration of the vehicle according to the signal from the acceleration detecting unit; an electric field generating unit(181) generating the electric field corresponding to the control signal from the control unit; and a magnetic fluid flow control unit(191) absorbing vertical vibration of the vehicle by regulating flow of the magnetic fluid with magnetizing the magnetic fluid corresponding to the electric field from the electric field generating unit. Vibration is absorbed by regulating the flow of the magnetic fluid corresponding to the intensity of the magnetic field.
