PURPOSE: An oval coil preventing apparatus is provided which reduces working time and generation of scrap and prevents quality defects due to defective shape of the hot coil by effectively preventing deformation of diameter of the hot coil when naturally cooling hot coil at cooling yard. CONSTITUTION: In an apparatus for preventing an oval coil from being generated by high temperature, material and dead load of the hot coil in the process of cooling hot coil, the apparatus comprises a certain sized base(5); an outer coiling supporting part(10) comprising vertical stands(26a,26b) moved by motor(20) at one side of the base and a plural outer diameter supporting rolls(65) mounted on the vertical stands and ascended and descended vertically by motors(40a,40b) so that the outer diameter supporting rolls support both sides of the outer circumferential surface of the hot coil(305) on the base; an inner coiling supporting part(70) comprising vertical stands(86a,86b) moved by motor(80) on the base in a direction perpendicular to the outer coiling supporting part and inner diameter supporting members(100a,100b) mounted on the vertical stands and ascended and descended by motors(92a,92b) so that the inner diameter supporting members support the inner circumferential surface of the hot coil on the base; and a skid part(120) which is positioned at a central upper part of the base, at both side corners of which inclined projections(122) are formed, and at the center of which load cell(126) is formed to detect that the hot coil is positioned on an upper part of the skid part, wherein the skid part supports the outer circumferential surface and the inner circumferential surface of the coil during cooling of the hot coil.
