An inflatable balloon (26) surrounding ultrasonic transducer (28), has proximal end attached to distal end of catheter (12), and distal end attached to a portion of movable tube (58) that extends beyond distal end of inner support (30). The longitudinal movement of the tube relative to catheter causes movement of distal end of balloon relative to proximal end of balloon, to change the shape of balloon.
