PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically clean the filter of a coolant filtering device at an appropriate timing in machining operation of a machine tool. SOLUTION: A CPU interprets the contents of a machining program for every one block, creates control instructions to a main spindle, X, Y and Z axes, and the coolant filtering device 5 constituting the machine tool 1 and executes the machining operation (S1). Then, the CPU determines the presence/absence of a code of commanding the execution of back washing (S2). When there is a code "M406" commanding the execution of the back washing (YES), the process is shifted to a subroutine of the back washing to perform the back washing (S3), when there is no code "M406" (NO), the CPU determines whether it is a code of commanding the completion of the program (S4).
