<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a negative type image recording material in which ablation in laser scanning during recording is suppressed, high quality image forming is conducted in a nonimaging section without a stain and a superior lithographic printing plate is formed having superior storage stability and printing resistance. <P>SOLUTION: The material contains (A) a macromolecular compound which has a substituent expressed by a general formula (1) in a side-chain and is soluble or swelled in water or an aqueous alkali solution, (B) a photothermal converting agent and (C) a compound which is neutral in terms of electric charges and generates a radical by light or heat. In the formula (1), R<SP>1</SP>is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group which may have a substituent, R<SP>2</SP>and R<SP>3</SP>are each independently an monovalent organic group, X is an oxygen atom or a sulfur atom or -NR<SP>4</SP>-, and R<SP>4</SP>is a monovalent organic group. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
