<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new technology to decompose a biodegradable plastic material such as polylactic acid by using a specific lipase and provide a use of the enzyme effective for the decomposition of a biodegradable plastic material, especially polylactic acid, etc. <P>SOLUTION: The agent for decomposing a biodegradable plastic contains lipase CS2 as an active component. The lipase CS2 is produced from Cryptococcus sp.S-2 or produced by a recombinant DNA technology, has a newly clarified amino acid sequence having high similarity to cutinase and, accordingly, exhibits decomposing action on a polyester plastic as well as polylactic acid. Enzymes capable of effectively decomposing a polylactic acid which is a representative biodegradable plastic are essentially unknown and the waste disposal technique for used polylactic acid is not yet developed to hinder the use of the polylactic acid recently attracting attention on its usefulness. The problem is solved by the use of the enzyme and the decomposing method of the invention is excellent also as a technique for preventing environmental pollution. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
