PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent vertical displacement by fitting adjacent retaining blocks and back and forth displacement by connecting and substantially unifying the blocks, and arrange mutual surface plates in the front face side with an inner angle of the surface plates of smaller than 90°and halve the weight of a retaining wall block compared with a conventional one to reduce the labor and costs. SOLUTION: The retaining wall block includes a counterfort plate 3 erected apart from the front face plate 2 to the depth, a joint plate 4 connecting the lateral middle parts of the surface plate 2 and the plate 3. The lateral side ends 16, 17 of the front face plate 2 are retaining wall blocks 1 constituted respectively of an outwardly projected part 18 and an inwardly notched part 19. When retaining wall blocks 1 are disposed right and left, the projected part 18 and the part 19 are formed so that the part 18 of one surface plate 2 and the notched part 19 of the other surface plate are mutually fitted in an aligned state that the height of the tightly adjacent surface plate 2 is almost aligned in right and left.
