PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid detergent composition which smells well and can develop excellent detergency when the object to be washed is coated therewith and is then washed. SOLUTION: The liquid detergent composition contains (a) a soapless surfactant, (b) at least one compound selected from water-soluble perfumy compounds, and (c) water in a specified ratio and has a pH of 7.5-12 (at 20°C) and an ionic strength of 0.5-5 mol/m<SP>3</SP>.
