PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a front wheel drive bicycle having a folding mechanism in which an output shaft of a motor is used for a transmission shaft. SOLUTION: An axle 4 of a front wheel 1 is hollow with the diameter of the axle increased, a transmission shaft 5 is passed therethrough, a drive gear 6 is fixed and fitted to a portion protruded outward of a front fork 3, and a gear shift mechanism to transmit the rotation of the drive gear to a driven gear provided on a free wheel 10 via an intermediate shaft 8 having a middle gear 9 on both sides with a middle portion thereof held by a bearing passing through the front fork. A pedal crank 7 assembled to both ends of the transmission shaft or the motor 22 is used for the power to drive the drive gear. Since the front wheel is steered by the front wheel drive system, the structure of a rear wheel is simplified, and a body supporting part of a rear wheel fork 14 is turned around the horizontal axis of the body frame so that the rear wheel is easily folded by utilizing the holding effect of a tension spring 19 and a lock plate 17.
