PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spiral type membrane element used in a membrane separator such as a precise filter device, an ultrafiltration device, a reverse osmotic membrane separator and constituted so as to demarcate a permeated water outflow area and a concentrated water outflow area by attaching a cylindrical divider to the end surface of a membrane wound body, and manufacturing method therefor. SOLUTION: In the spiral membrane element, a membrane is rolled up into a membrane rolled body and permeated water and concentrated water are taken out from the end surface of the rolled body, an annular groove is provided on the end surface of the wound body, and one end of a divider comprising a cylindrical body is inserted in the groove to be bonded thereto by adhesive and the outer peripheral side of the divider becomes an outflow area of one of permeated water and concentrated water and the inner periphery of the divider becomes the other outflow area of permeated water and concentrated water. The spiral membrane element is characterized in that a means for enhancing the bonding force with an adhesives is provided on the peripheral surface of the divider. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
